It’s a normal practice among software vendors to include additional programs or other offers (like changing the search engine or homepage in your browser) in their installer. That’s the catch especially when you install a free program.
Below is an example of what we called – a bundleware.
You need to be careful not to accidentally install unwanted programs while running an installer.
The good news is there is a handy tool to assist you with software installation. Called Unchecky, it avoids the installation of bundleware by automatically uncheck potentially unwanted programs, toolbars and offers to change your homepage or search engine, found in the installer.
Unchecky is free for download and is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 8.1/8, Windows 7, Vista and XP. It updates automatically. However, keep in mind that Unchecky doesn’t support all installers, especially new installers.
