The free antivirus solution from Microsoft for Windows PCs, the Security Essentials 4 has been in beta since November last year. After almost five months in beta, Microsoft is happy to announce the availability of the stable version of the Microsoft Security Essentials 4 (v 4.0.1526.0) yesterday.
In the latest version, you should notice the new simplified graphical user interface that makes the antivirus easier to use and navigate. The new layout is not the only improvement (of course), the developer have enhanced Microsoft Security Essentials’ Automatic Remediation. This essential feature will automatically quarantine high risk threats without the interference from the user. Meaning that, you don’t have to take any action to deal with threats as MSE will take care of it automatically. Peace of mind.
Other features and improvements include minor bug fixes in the set-up procedure and malware remediation.
Microsoft Security Essentials 4 is compatible with Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista SP1 or SP2 and Windows 7 SP1. Available as free download via Microsoft Download Center and only works on computers running Genuine Windows. If you have MSE installed on your system, the antivirus will be automatically updated to the latest version through the Microsoft Update service.
