On Friday September 16, Google has rolled out the latest stable version of Google Chrome 14 (v14.0.835.163) for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms. Chrome 14 contains some new features and improvements, fixed many crash bugs and added some all-around visual polish.
This release highlights two noteworthy technologies that enable developers to create more powerful web apps and games.
- The Web Audio API enables developers to add fancy audio effects such as room simulation and spatialization.
- Native Client is an open-source technology which allows C and C++ code to be seamlessly and securely executed inside the browser. Currently, Native Client only supports applications listed in the Chrome Web Store, but we are working to remove this limitation as soon as possible.
Check out the video on Native Client.
On top of that, Mac users should be happy to learn that Google Chrome has brought two of the Mac OS X Lion’s features to the browser. Now, Chrome supports Lion’s overlay scrollbars and full-screen mode.
Google Chrome 14 Stable is compatible with Windows 7, Vista and XP, Mac and Linux operating systems.
