Disable USB Port to Prevent Data Theft When You’re Away1 min read

Some of you may prefer not to turn off your computer when you’re away. Leaving your computer unprotected may result in data theft, because people can easily stick their pen drive into your USB port and copy data off. The next thing you know, your half-naked pictures are spreading wide throughout the Internet. Or maybe worse than that!

There are lot of ways to protect your valuable files for data theft, one of the method is to lock your USB ports while you’re away. As usual, you need a software to disable the USB ports. USB Drive Disabler is a freeware Windows application that allows you to easily enable or disable USB ports on your Windows system. Your USB ports are not disable entirely. Your mouse and keyboard will be still working because USB Drive Disabler only disable the USB storage media e.g pen drive, portable hard disk from running on your computer.[ad#post2]

USB Drive Disabler

To use USB Drive Disabler, run the program and click “Disable USB Drives” or “Enable USB Drives” to disable or enable your USB ports. You are asked to reboot your computer for the changes to take effect. But honestly you don’t need to do so, it will take effect soon after you apply the changes.

This will leave no space for people from stealing your data off your computer using pen drive. So you don’t have to worry a second when you are away from the computer.
