It is impossible to find a new Windows-based laptop or PC without pre-installed OEM software inside, unless you buy an OS-free laptop or PC, and then run your own Windows installation.
Some of the common software found pre-loaded are trials of antivirus software, Microsoft Office, multimedia players, video tools, and not to mention, a bunch of PC manufacturer-specific software. Most of the time, you won’t need those pre-installed software, which people refer as bloatware or crapware. The question is, do you still want those software to take up the space and memory in your system, or remove them once and for all?
If you choose to remove them all, here’s an easy way to get your job done. Introducing Decrap my Computer, a freeware that automatically remove crapware and unwanted pre-installed software from your new Windows laptop or PC. The software is very similar to PC Decrapifier, which we’d mentioned back in 2008.
Decrap my Computer is easy to use. You can choose to run Decrap in fully automatic mode or do it manually. If you choose auto mode, the software will uninstall all the third party software and all the non-standard start menu and desktop icons, plus cleaning up the registry, without requiring any input from you. For safety reason, a System Restore point will be created.
Meanwhile, in manual mode, there are a total of five steps to complete. First is to choose what to uninstall. It may take sometime to go through the list of items for removal.
Step 2, create a System Restore point. In Step 3, you need to select the uninstallation and registry cleaning options.
Removal process is now running in Step 4. In Step 5 which is the last step, clean up the registry. Done!
Decrap my Computer is free for download and is designed to work on both 64 bit and 32 bit versions of Windows 8, Windows 7, Vista, XP and Windows 2000.
