BALESIO LAUNCHES FILEMINIMIZER PDF

PDF Files Reduced by up to 90%

London, UK – 5th April 2011 – balesio AG, the leading provider of native format optimisation
solutions for unstructured data, today unveiled FILEminimizer PDF, the latest addition to its stable of
data reduction products. Using balesio’s native format optimisation technology FILEminimizer PDF
reduces the size of PDF documents including photographs and graphics by as much as 90%,
generating optimised, high-quality files primed for email sharing. With PDF documents taking up
significant space in email systems and in costly primary storage in many organisations FILEminimizer
PDF allows users to reduce their bandwidth needs, lower or postpone storage purchases and realise
considerable financial savings.

Mirroring other balesio products, FILEminimizer features an easy-to-use multi-lingual client interface
and 50 powerful compression settings for visually lossless PDF files optimisation that can be tuned to
produce optimal results for every user.  Thanks to its transparent integration with Microsoft Outlook
and Lotus Notes, PDF attachments are automatically optimised directly before sending out.

balesio’s FILEminimizer is the industry’s first standalone product of its kind and is compatible with
Microsoft outlook 2003 and 2010 as well as Lotus Notes 6.x or higher; it will be joined by
FILEminimizer Suite and FILEminimizer Server later in the year.

Christoph Schmid, Chief Operating Officer at balesio is proud of the company’s newest addition to its
portfolio. ‘There is so much potential to drastically reduce corporate storage requirements created by
PDF documents that the development of FILEminimizer PDF was a key element of our product
roadmap. Since the introduction of our first FILEminimizer software the response has been incredibly
positive and we are excited that balesio is steadily making a name for itself in the data management
market.’

balesio’s native format optimisation technology is a comprehensive set of content-aware algorithms
developed for unstructured file formats such as PDF files, Microsoft Office files, PowerPoint
presentations and images. Being a native process, the original file format is preserved making a
subsequent rehydration or decompression unnecessary.
