There is a few occasions where you wish your computer can automatically trigger the shutdown button by itself. There must be time when you are running some important (but lengthy) tasks on your Windows like doing defragmentation on your hard drive, run virus scan on your system or downloading a huge file from the internet. All these tasks take quite a lot of time (like hours) to complete, but you just have no time to sit in front of the computer, waiting to shutdown the computer once all the tasks have completed.
Well you don’t have to necessarily do that because you can instruct your system to automatically shutdown on its own. And Chameleon Shutdown will take care of it. This freeware Windows application does not only enables you to schedule your system to auto switch off the computer, but also allows you to automatically restart, hibernate, put your system to sleep, lock, and log off your system.
All these operations are triggered when certain conditions are met (specific time, delay, idle time, CPU usage, closure of a certain program). To set the condition(s), simply launch the (straight-forward) application, then choose the operation that you want to run, for example, shut down. Move your mouse over the Shutdown option, then choose “With parameters” option.
Now, you are ready to instruct your system to auto-shutdown when it meet the condition(s) that you set, including after a specific time (like half an hour from now) or set the system to shutdown at a specific time (like 4.00 a.m.). Other conditions include idle time, CPU usage and closure of a program.
Moreover, you can add multiple conditions without limitation. Simply hit More > Add a additional condition to do so.
Now, let’s try it yourself. Chameleon Shutdown is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP and 2003.
