ASUS Malaysia has announced its next INCREDIBLE product, dubbed as ASUS TAICHI 21 together with three other new Windows 8 (Vivotab Smart and Vivotab RT) and Android touch-based (MeMO Pad) devices, at a special technical seminar plus media event on Tuesday, January 22. The media event was held at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur. We didn’t manage to attend the event, but we have details to show you.

TAICHI 21 is the world’s first dual-screen notebook and tablet combination. The 11.6-inch convertible ultrabook features two-in-one back-to-back full HD screen design that enables you to use the product either as a laptop or a tablet. There is a single-finger easy switch between the two modes. Isn’t that cool or what?

Lid open, TAICHI is a powerful ultrabook with a Full HD screen, backlit keyboard and large multi-touch touchpad for making light work of demanding productivity tasks. Lid closed, TAICHI becomes a lightweight tablet with a Full HD multi-touch screen, for easy and intuitive use on the move.

Hardware-wise, TAICHI 21 features 3rd generation Intel Core i5-3317U processor, integrated HD graphics 4000, has 11.6-inch Full HD screen display (1920×1080 resolution) with 250 nits backlight support and 178° wide viewing angle. It has 256GB SATA III SSD and 4GB DDR3 RAM. The Windows-8 based device weighs at 1.25 kg with thickness of 17.4 mm.

As for connectivity, the convertible ultrabook has dual-band Wi-Fi with Intel WiDi, Bluetooth 4.0 and two USB 3.0 ports. There is ASUS SonicMaster technology (designed by , responsible to deliver astonishing sound quality on TAICHI 21. TAICHI also features a 5-megapixel auto-focus camera with 1080p Full HD video recording and second 720p HD video camera. Last but not least, there is an optional stylus (purchase separately) for precision control and handwritten note taking.

TAICHI 21 is already available at authorised ASUS resellers since the fifth week of January. It retails at RM 3,999 apiece.
