Google Chrome OS is an internet-centric, cloud-oriented operating system that is set for debut release sometime in late 2010, with devices supporting it said to come early 2011.
At the Atmosphere Cloud Computing forum yesterday, Google CEO Eric Schmidt has discussed about the Chrome OS and has shared a bit about the pricing on Google Chrome OS-based netbooks. He revealed that the netbook pricing will ranging from $300 to $400 price brackets, at which the prices will be derived entirely by the cost of physical components and materials.
Here’s what Eric Schmidt said about the Google Chrome OS netbook pricings.
“It will be up to the manufacturers who do it, but the price points you should think about are the current netbook pricings which are 300 dollar, 400 dollar price points”
“Those prices are completely determined, by the way, by the costs of the glass, the costs of the processor and things like that, but in our case Chrome OS and Android are free so there is no software tax associated with all of this”
