Today, we are going to take a look at the history of YouTube as they have turned five years old, two days back.
The YouTube video sharing site, was all started back on 23 April 2005 when the first ever YouTube video was uploaded to the site, at 8:27PM the same day. The video was shot by Yakov Lapitsky at the San Diego Zoo, and the video was named “Me at the Zoo”.
The domain name YouTube.com was registered on February 14, 2005 and the official launch of YouTube was in October 2005.
Since then, YouTube never looked back, and today, YouTube is serving more than 1 billion video views per day! With no doubt, YouTube is the clear leader of all video sharing sites on the Internet!
Here are some interesting statistics of YouTube over the last 5 years
- YouTube after its official launch had over 65,000 videos being uploaded and over 100 millions video views every day by June 2006.
- YouTube consumed more bandwidth alone in 2007 than the entire Internet did for the year 2000.
- When Google bought YouTube in 20o6 October it was valued at 1.65 $ Billion.
- Today YouTube widely gets 1 billion views per day!
