Previously, I have introduced a Firefox plugin, called the Google Background Changer. The extension enables you to change the white (and boring) background on Google homepage with your favourite image. Well, now you can do that without using any plugin. Yes, you can forget about the Google Background Changer plugin.
I guess Google might has already felt that Bing homepage looks just awesome with the outstanding and eye-catching wallpaper image as it’s background, so Google has decided (finally!) to roll out this new feature that allows you to add and customize the background image in Google homepage.
You can choose the image or photo from various sources. You can choose a photo from your computer, your own Picasa Web Album or a public gallery hosted by Picasa which includes a selection of beautiful photos.
The new feature will first available to users in the U.S. In the next few days, you will notice a link in the lower left-hand corner of Google homepage. The link will enable you to customize the Google’s background image. For non-U.S. users, you can expect to see this new feature in the coming days. Okay, I will wait patiently, Mr. Google! 🙂
If you want to get back to the classic look of Google, there will be a link provided that allows you to easily switch between your customized search page and the classic Google. Well, I doubt that users will roll back to the classic view of Google once they have tried customize the background image. Thanks, Google blog!
