Well, this is part of the Windows 8 Upgrade Offer from Microsoft. The “Buy a Windows 7 PC and get Windows 8 Pro for $ 14.99” offer is available in 131 markets starting today. To enjoy the offer, consumers must buy a new Windows PC pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate, from June 2, 2012 to January 31, 2013. However, the promotional offer is not valid for PC that runs Windows 7 Starter or Windows 7 Enterprise.
Eligible customers need to register themselves for the Windows 8 Upgrade Offer (the registration is not available yet) and then download the Windows 8 Pro upgrade when it is available. The last day to redeem it is February 28, 2013. Note that the promotional price is limited to one upgrade offer per PC purchased. The maximum number of new Windows 7 PCs a consumer can purchased is five units.
