A while ago, we’ve shared with you four multi-app installer tools for Windows. Those handy tools are Ninite, AllMyApps, Npackd and FreeApps. Today, we are going to look at another similar tool called the Speed Install.
Speed Install is a freeware app manager for Windows that enables you to automatically download and install multiple applications into your computer in one go without your interference.
As the application database are constantly updated, you are rest assured that only the latest version of applications are installed on your system. Moreover, the applications are virus-free because they are downloaded from official sites. Peace of mind.
The app manager contains hundred of applications (both free and trial) organized in various categories (there are 17 of them). The version number for each application is displayed together with information like status (free or trial), software description and size of the installer.
There are two ways to select applications to install. You can browse through the categories and check the desired applications. The checked applications will appear under the Selection from categories section (accessible from the Lists tab). Once you’re done with the selection, simply hit the Install button.
The download and installation process run automatically, viewable under the Report tab.
Besides choosing applications from categories, you can also choose to install applications from a pre-defined list of applications, under the name of Work, Home, Internet, Security, Multimedia and Freeware. You can un-check any application from the list if you want to.
As for the Settings, you can configure Speed Install to automatically remove several items after installation of an application like remove the folders and shortcuts in the ‘Start’ menu, remove shortcuts from desktop or remove shortcuts from ‘Quick launch’ toolbar.
Other features of Speed Install include the ability to create custom standalone executable installer for a list of desired applications. The exe installer can be copied to USB stick and bring it over to other computer. With a single click, all the containing applications in the installer will get installed automatically and silently on the computer. Yes, it saves you time and data bandwidth to download the applications.
Other than that, with Speed Install, you can create the offline versions of the installation tool with the sets of programs you need.
Speed Install is free for download and is compatible with Windows 7, Vista and XP.
