Microsoft has sent out a press invitation to witness the launch of the next-generation Windows operating system, the Windows 8. The launch event is expected to take place on Thursday, October 25 in New York City.
The Windows 8 will then goes on sale on October 26, a day after the launch event. It will be available to PCs, laptops and tablets. Users who purchase a Windows 7 PC between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013, are eligible to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for just $14.99. It costs $40 to upgrade for users that runs existing Windows 7, Vista or XP on their computers.
In the launch event, we shall find out the pricing of Microsoft’s highly touted Windows 8 and Windows RT-powered Surface tablets. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has given a price estimation on how much the Surface tablets will cost : from $300 to $700 and $800.
