Internet Explorer 6 has been around for 9 years since 2001 and if you are still using IE6, it’s about time to put this dinosaur old browser to rest. FYI, many websites have already stopped supporting old browsers which includes IE6.
And starting from March 1, 2010, Google will stop supporting IE6 web browser on its services. You will soon notice that IE6 will no longer working properly on Google Docs and Google Sites. Too bad if you are still using IE6.
From my last month’s traffic figures, out of 60k visitors, 10% of them are IE6 users. If you are one of them, I’m strongly suggested you to upgrade your Internet Explorer browser to version 7 or 8, or switch to other better browsers like Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera.
To do so, I’ve installed a handy WordPress plugin called Internet Explorer 6 Upgrade, that will alert visitors to make upgrade of their outdated IE6 browsers to the latest versions or switch to other better browsers.
This plugin will detect if visitor is using the old Internet Explorer 6 (or even older version?) and displays a message to him to download a better browser, or at least upgrade to a new version of IE.
Internet Explorer 6 Upgrade have support to English and other 10 languages including Russian, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Czech, Belorusian, Polish and Portuguese Brazil.
For blogger/blogspot users, you can insert these codes to display the Internet Explorer 6 Upgrade alert.
