On this October 25, Microsoft will officially launch the next-generation Windows 8 operating system. The first ever touch-screen-friendly Windows 8 will go on sale the following day on October 26.
Today, we are going to take Windows users a stroll down the memory lane to see how the operating system evolve over time. The first Windows OS made its debut on year 1985 (the same year I was born :-)). It was named as Windows 1.0.
10 years later, Windows 95 was born. In between, there were several versions of the Windows OS released include Windows 2.0 and Windows 3.0. After Windows 95, came Windows 98, then Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and the latest, Windows 8.
The people over Freemake has crammed up all the details on evolution of Windows OS dated back to 1985 till the present in 2012, in an infographic, “Windows : User Evolution”. Each OS illustration is accompanied by the date that it debuted. There are little icons that indicate technology and software that was popular at the time.
