The previously-mentioned Bing Desktop application for Windows has came out of beta quite a while ago. Initially, it just supports Windows 7, but that is no longer the case because the latest Bing Desktop v1.1 is also compatible with Windows XP, Vista and of course Windows 8. 🙂
In addition to the ability to run Bing search directly from your desktop, Bing Desktop also allows you to automatically set the daily updated background image on Bing.com as your desktop wallpaper. With the latest Bing Desktop v1.1, besides the Bing wallpaper of the day, you can browse through the prior 9 days of images and even set one of them as your desktop wallpaper.
That’s not all, you can now stay updated with the highlights of the top news, videos, images and popular now topics within the search bar. Simply click on the Top Contents icon to reveal those information.
You can docked Bing Desktop to the top of the screen or drag and move it to any location on the desktop. Bing Desktop is accessible from the Start bar, task tray or Windows 8 Start screen. You can use Win+Y keyboard shortcut to minimize Bing Desktop.
Bing Desktop works on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and Windows Server 2008 and 2012 for English, French, German, Chinese and Japanese.
