One month ago, Bitdefender has released its first public beta version of the upcoming security software – the Total Security 2014 BETA. The new Bitdefender BETA is now available for download and testing for free at the official Total Security 2014 BETA page.
What’s New in Bitdefender 2014?
The interface stays the same as the current 2013 line of products. In fact, we can hardly notice a change in the look and feel, really. Okay, never mind the interface, let’s focus on the new features and improvements that Bitdefender brought to 2014 version.
Among the new features is the new Adaptive Scanning Technology, that according to Bitdefender, is capable of improving the speed and performance in a matter of hours by gradually molding to your PC.
Next is the new Wallet feature, a secure place that automatically stores your sensitive credentials into it with the ability to auto-fill them in login forms for you. The feature combined with the existing Bitdefender Safepay (a separate, secure browser) gives you a total peace-of-mind while carrying online transactions or dealing with sensitive data.
During installation, you are prompted to configure the Wallet. This include choose to start a new Wallet database (or import an existing database) and set a master password. Every time you log into your computer, you will be asked for master password. When you leave the computer unattended for some time, the wallet will auto-locked.
Other than that, Bitdefender also introduced a new Weekly Security Report feature. The report presents the overall security status for the past seven days, including scans and disinfections, pending issues (if any) and ways to fix them, as well as feature recommendations and notifications of unused modules.
In Bitdefender Total Security 2014, the Parental Control feature just got better. The improvements include coverage on all Windows environments (now includes Windows 8 and Windows RT), full http/https protection, a different Facebook user experience and many other new options.
Last but not least, Bitdefender has turned its antispam technology to fully cloud-based, which means that the feature gives no impact performance, improved detection rates and a very small footprint on disk.
Bitdefender Total Security 2014 Beta is compatible with Windows 8, Windows 7, Vista and XP. Since the security product is still in beta stage, expect to find issues and bugs while testing it on your system. Moreover, Bitdefender offers interesting prizes for beta testers.
