BitDefender has released the first public beta version of their upcoming security application, the Total Security 2012 BETA. The product is now available for download for free at http://beta2012.bitdefender.com/.
The BitDefender Total Security 2012 BETA improves the installation experience with a faster setup which requires just a few clicks to get the application installed. BitDefender claims that the installation can be completed in half the time required by the previous version.
Besides the streamlined installation, the application also gets a revamped interface. The main interface looks sleek and polished where everything fits nicely in place. If you are user of the Total Security 2011, you should notice that BitDefender has omitted the feature that allows you to choose interfaces (three altogether : Beginner, Intermediate and Expert modes) depending on the user type.
In the main window, you can navigate between the available modules easily using the arrows (left and right) or use the slider. The modules include Antivirus, Firewall, Antispam, Update, Parental, Privacy, Safe Box, Tune Up and Network Map. The best part is that you can drag and drop modules that you use often to the front, to get quick access to the actions directly from main window.
One of the most notably new features provided with the beta is the new Auto-pilot mode. The mode provides hassle-free experience by making optimal security-related decisions without input from you. When you turn it on, no alerts or pop-ups are generated anymore and all decisions are made automatically by the security application.
Other than that, BitDefender has added several other new features including :
- Scan dispatcher runs scanning tasks (including a recurring system scan) in slices of time which are otherwise unused, so that system load from scanning does not interfere with the normal usage of the computer
- Rescue mode is a trusted environment used to clean up stubborn malware and e-threats which are not removable within the Windows.
- Integrated Cloud services that ensures the emerging threats from the internet, such as virus outbreaks and major spam waves, are dealt with swiftly, thanks to the real time, global interchange of data between BitDefender servers in the cloud and BitDefender Total Security 2012.
- File sync which enables you to easily synchronize files between computers.
Other change includes an improved Online Backup service. The updated Online Backup monitors your important files and instantly backs them up to a secure remote server (storage of 2GB) whenever a change is detected. But you need to first register an account at BitDefender website.
BitDefender Total Security 2012 BETA is compatible with Windows 7, Vista and Windows XP operating system.
