The address bar in Chrome (also called the omnibox) is very useful. Besides letting you to type website URL, the address bar is also a search box. You type search term on it and hit Enter to see the search resuts from your default search engine. On top of that, you can search for apps, bookmarks, browsing history and related items, directly from the address bar.
And now, you can even compose new emails for Gmail from Chrome’s address bar. To get this feature to work, you will need to install a Chrome extension, called the OmniMail for GMail and after successfully installation, you need to grant the extension access to your Google Contacts.
Now, instead of logging in to your Gmail account, and then hit Compose button to start a new email, you can do so much quicker from the address bar. And it’s so simple too. You just type mail, space, then key in the recipient’s email address, and then hit Enter to redirect you to the Compose Mail’s window in your Gmail account.
Notice that the recipient’s email address you entered earlier is automatically filled in as recipient.
You can enter multiple email addresses by simply add space to separate the email addresses. Besides, you can search for recipients (in your Google Contacts) directly from the address bar. The extension will scan your contacts and suggest a list of related recipients as you type in the address bar.
