The other day I was talking about the iReader app for Google Chrome browser. Today, we are going to take a look at another similar tool – the Evernote Clearly.
From the developer of Evernote (a top-rated note taking app for mobile devices), the Evernote Clearly is an extension that functions like a reader tool that strips out the ads and extraneous layout from blog posts, articles and webpages and presents them in a clean and easy to read display. The main idea behind the app is to give you what you want to read – that’s the content itself!
Check out the video on the Clearly app.
After installation, the Clearly icon (a study lamp) will appear next to the address bar. Simply click on the icon to open the article you’re currently reading in Reader mode.
Here’s what the reader mode looks like. An overlay will appear with the article in the center of the screen with a set of controls at the right. Not only for one-page article, the extension also allows you to browse multi-page articles in one, seamless view.
Now, talking about the controls. There is an option to bring you back to the original article view. The second option allows you to connect Clearly to Evernote to clip and sync articles with every computer, phone and tablet you use. Very essential for later reading.
Moreover, you can choose a theme that suits your taste or create your own (you need to configure it in the options page) and also a printer icon that allows you to print the article.
In the Options page, you can create a custom theme that displays blog content the way you like it.
Evernote Clearly is currently available for Google Chrome. Coming soon to other browsers.
