The Parrot AR.Drone remote-controlled quadricopter, which can only be controlled previously by iOS devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch), is now extended to Android smartphones. Now, Android users can fly the quadricopter with their smartphones using Wi-Fi. 🙂
FYI, AR.Drone has four helicopter blades that are used to fly it, two built-in video cameras (front and vertical) and an ultrasound altimeter. Front-view camera will beam live video on your Android device. Plus, you can battle with other Drone users via a Wi-Fi network.
How much does a AR.Drone costs? The quadricopter can be purchased at USD$299.95 (~RM1000) . Go here to find out where to buy. For Malaysians, you can buy the quadricopter online at RM1350 (extra RM 350 from RRP) from gottagrabbit.com.
To control and pilot the AR.Drone, you will need to install AR.FreeFlight app in your Android device. You can get it for free on Android Market here. The app requires Android 2.2 OS to run. It works best with multitouch screen and accelerator.
