The Developer Preview is a pre-beta version of Windows 8 for developers. As there is no registration required, anyone (whether you are a developer or else) can download and install the Windows 8 Developer Preview edition on your system for free. However, note that you bear all the risk of using it as the software may not be stable, operate correctly or work the way the final version of the software will.

Three different packages are available for download (as .ISO file format), they are the 64-bit version of Developer Preview with developer tools (4.8GB), the 64-bit (3.6GB) and 32-bit (2.8GB) versions of the just the Windows 8 OS.
As the packages come in ISO file format, you need to burn the downloaded file from ISO to DVD format after download. On Windows 7, you can use the Windows Disc Image Burner. While on Windows Vista or XP, you need a third party application to carry out the task. You can try the freeware BDLot DVD ISO Master.
The Windows 8 Developer Preview edition can be installed on Windows 7, Vista and XP operating systems. For details on system requirements and more information on the Developer Preview, hop over to the official download page.
