Leading security product vendor AVG has released its 2015 range of security applications for Windows. This includes AVG Antivirus Free 2015, AVG Antivirus 2015, AVG Internet Security 2015 and AVG PC TuneUp 2015. All the mentioned products are available for download since last week.
AVG 2015 comes with a redesigned user interface. In the main window, you shall notice five simple circles (each represents a module). The circles give you an overview of your level of protection, plus their color alerts you to potential problems (green means okay, red not okay). A partial circle means that certain protection features are not activated or installed, while a full one means that you are fully covered.
In addition to that, AVG has added a new outbreak detection to all its security products. The new feature helps you to block and quarantine zero-day malware exploits before malware definition packages are released. Here’s how the protection works, if you wonder.
When we discover a 0-day threat, we immediately upload our earliest detection methods into the back end of our cloud-based threat database. Whenever a user comes across that threat and is in a position to activate it, our behavioral detection kicks in and does a reputation check. If the application is linked to this new threat-it will be blocked and quarantined. This new method helps keep you safe the moment we know a threat is out there, and helps to stop its spread while we develop the regular definitions packages which contain a broader and more thorough protection.
That’s all on the new features, which is kind of a disappointment because users only get new interface plus outbreak detection. Anyway, it’s better than nothing, right?
AVG Antivirus Free 2015 is free for download, PC Tuneup 2015 comes with 15 days trial and 30 days trial for the rest. All products are compatible with Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Vista and XP.
