The Windows 8 Consumer Preview (aka the beta version of the new Windows operating system) is now available as a free download. Earlier, Microsoft has officially announced the release of the Windows 8 Consumer Preview at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona.

The Windows 8 Consumer Preview is a lot better than the Developer Preview (released back in September last year). One of the key updates in Consumer Preview is the availability of Microsoft Windows Store, a marketplace that houses a variety of new Metro style apps from both third-party developers and Microsoft itself. During the Consumer Preview, all apps are available for free.
In addition, Windows 8 Consumer Preview offers a seamless integration with content that users access through their devices, including smartphones powered by the Windows Phone platform. Also packed in Consumer Preview is the Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 5, designed specially for Windows 8 devices.
Now, are you excited to try Windows 8 Consumer Preview? It’s free for download and available in English, French, German, Japanese and simplified Chinese languages. And is compatible with Windows 7, Vista and XP operating systems.
