Last Thursday, Facebook has announced the Antivirus Marketplace. The purpose is to provide security protection for Facebook users for free through the partnerships with several security software companies. Thus far, the social network giant has teamed up with five companies. They are Microsoft, McAfee, TrendMicro, Sophos and Symantec.
Through the Antivirus Marketplace, Facebook users can download six-month subscription licenses to full versions of antivirus software for free from the five companies. The security software includes Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee Internet Security 2012, Norton Antivirus 2012, Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition, and Trend Micro Internet Security 2012 for PCs and Macs. All these software are free for six months except Security Essentials. The Security Essentials is a freeware, so there is no expiry date for it.
