From the leaked background images from the Windows 8 Consumer Preview (build 8220), now we are going to take a look at some of the new features and changes in this build. Plus some leaked screenshots of the OS, courtesy of WinUnleaked.tk. FYI, Consumer Preview is due to launch by the end of this month.
One of the notable changes is the decision to remove the start button (which has been around since Windows 95) from Windows 8. R.I.P. start button!
Below is the list of changes in this build 8220 :
- new ImmersiveUI icon set
- new background set for the Start Page
- new shortcuts for the Charm Bar
- new Apps menu template
- no more Microsoft Confidential watermark, neither on the desktop or in the WinVer
- no security hash
- no start button
- a lot of bugfixes
- new Ribbon organisation
- new branding : « Windows 8 Consumer Preview »
- new organisation for split-ted touch keyboard
