The second-generation of Samsung phablet (phone+tablet) – the soon-to-be launched Samsung Galaxy Note II (October 24 in the US), has seen some improvements from the original Galaxy Note. The newer version has a larger screen, more battery and brings enhancements to the S-Pen stylus itself and also its features. There’s more, read on for details.
The Samsung Galaxy Note II sports a larger 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED screen display with 1280 x 780 resolution. The original Note has only 5.3-inch screen but with more pixels at 1280 x 800 resolution. Moreover, Note II is thinner by 0.25 mm (at 9.4mm) than the original Note, but heavier by 2 grams (at 182.5g).
Note II is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, with 2GB of RAM and three choices of internal storage – 16GB, 32GB or 64GB. The storage size can be expanded up to 64GB through microSD. The phablet has more battery life, thanks to a 3,100 mAh Li-ion battery (2,500 mAh in original Note).
As for color flavors, the Samsung Galaxy Note II is available in Marble White and Titanium Gray.
Other features include HSPA+21Mbps, 4G LTE connectivity, 8-megapixel rear camera (with auto-focus, LED flash and BSI), 1.9 megapixel camera on its front and the phablet will run the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.
In addition to that, Note II brings some new functionality to the improved-design S Pen stylus. This includes Air View (allows you to preview email, image gallery or video by simply hover them with S-Pen), Popup Note (enables you to keep a note on the screen while working in another app) and Quick Command (that is accessible by swiping the S-Pen upward).
