Before You Upgrade to Windows 8
Microsoft will be happy to hear that you have decided to perform the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro. But before doing so, it’s advisable to run a simple tool from Microsoft called Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant. It will make the installation a smooth one. Most importantly, the tool makes it easy for you to check for hardware and software compatibility with Windows 8 through a simple wizard.
You can get Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant here. After download, simply the executable file. Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant is now running and its first task is to scan your hardware, apps, and connected devices to see if they’ll work with Windows 8. It takes a while to complete.
After completed scan, you will be presented with a compatibility report. If there are apps and devices that requires your attention (in this case, aren’t compatible with Windows 8), they might need an update, or you might need to uninstall and reinstall them after you upgrade.
Next, you are prompted to choose what you want to transfer to Windows 8. Note that if your PC is currently running Windows 7, your files, apps, and settings will easily transfer to Windows 8. If your PC is running Windows XP or Windows Vista, you’ll need to reinstall your apps after you upgrade.
Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant will then provide a recommendation on which edition is the most suitable for you, and walks you through the steps to upgrade.
We haven’t decided to make the purchase, so we better just stop here. So remember guys, make sure to use Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant to make the upgrade process a breeze one.
