HTC Desire, Desire HD, Desire Z to Get Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update1 min read

Good news to all HTC Desire owners (and myself too)! Because there is going to be an almost guarantee Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the HTC Desire mobile device and its variants, HTC Desire HD and Desire Z.

But don’t get too excited first, because the phones won’t be updated to Gingerbread until after the recently announced successor to the Desire at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2011 in Barcelona – the new Desire S launches in the middle of the second quarter of 2011. FYI, the HTC Desire S comes with Gingerbread pre-installed.

According to CNET UK, one of HTC representatives in MWC confirmed that the Desire phones would be upgrading to Gingerbread, the earliest being within two months after the launch of the Desire S.

But the phones won’t receive the update all at once. The Desire HD and Desire Z would probably be first to get the Gingerbread, after that only the original HTC Desire’s turn.

My guess is if the Desire S hit the store in June, the Desire HD and Desire Z should get updated to Gingerbread in August, then I will expect the Gingerbread update for HTC Desire to take place in September or in worst-case scenario, would be in October. 🙁 Thanks, Techie-buzz!

P.S. : Don’t keep me waiting for too long. My HTC Desire is now hungry for Gingerbread update.
