Entry-Level HTC Explorer Smartphone Officially Announced1 min read

HTC Corporation has officially announced its latest budget-friendly Android smartphone, called the HTC Explorer. FYI, Explorer is the most affordable smartphone (cheaper than HTC Wildfire S) in HTC’s lineup of Android smartphones. The phone is designed to be easy to use, is a suitable phone for first-time smartphone users. 🙂

On the hardware specification, the HTC Explorer features a 3.2-inch HVGA screen display (320×480 resolution), a modest 600MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 512MB of internal storage, a 3-megapixel rear camera and is powered by a 1,230mAh battery.

On the software side, Explorer runs Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OS with the new HTC Sense 3.5 overlay. More details on the specs here.

On the color variants, the Explorer is available in three colours : Metallic Black, Active Black and Metallic Navy.

Want more colour flavors? HTC Explorer comes with a range of optional back covers including Metallic Blue, Metallic Orange, Metallic White and Metallic Purple.

Availability and Pricing

The HTC Explorer will be available in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia starting Q4 2011. Pricing has yet to be announced, but should be “somewhere below” that of the $290 Wildfire S, reported by Engadget.
