Google has announced a new, handy service for Android users. Called the Android Device Manager, the service helps you locate your lost or stolen phone, with the ability to remotely wipe out your phone’s data in case that the phone couldn’t be recovered.
Android Device Manager can locate your phone on a map in real time. If you are near to the phone, there is an option to ring your phone at maximum volume so you can find it. Even if your phone is silenced or on vibrate mode, the Ring option can still instruct the phone to output loud noise.
There is no guarantee that you can recover your phone successfully. If that’s the case, for the best of your interest, you need to erase all the data on your phone. The Wipe Device option can help you to quickly and securely carry out the task.
Android Device Manager service will roll out later this month to devices running Android 2.2 or above. It requires you to be signed into Google Account. Moreover, there will be an Android app for the service.
P.S. : Finally, an Apple version of Find My iPhone feature for Android. It lacks the lock mode.
