The debut sale of Xiaomi’s first ever tablet in China on the first day of July has been a successful one. A total of 50,000 units of the Mipad tablet were all sold out in less than 4 minutes or 3 minutes and 59 seconds. Very impressive indeed. 🙂
The tablet is available in two models – 16GB and 64GB. The 16GB model retails at 1499 yuan, which is about $240 or RM 775. Meanwhile, the price tag for 64GB variant is 1699 yuan ($270 or RM 875). The next batch will goes on sale this Tuesday, July 8th. Only white color model available.
To recap, the Xiaomi Mipad sports a 7.9-inch IPS screen display with 2,028 x 1,536 resolution and a ppi of 326. It is powered by NVIDIA quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 processor which boasts of 192-core graphics. The tablet has 2GB of RAM and on-board storage size of 16GB/64GB. You can insert microSD for additional storage up to 128GB.
Other features include an 8MP rear camera, a front-facing 5MP camera, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and a generous 6,700 mAh battery. Mipad runs Android with MIUI overlay.
P.S. : We heard that the Mipad tablet is on its way to Malaysia. Hopefully Xiaomi Malaysia doesn’t let us wait too long. At the mean time, the Redmi 1S and Redmi Note will go on sale on July 8th and July 22nd respectively.
