Low selling price doesn’t necessarily mean low quality when it comes to smartphone. ASUS Zenfone 4 and 5 and Huawei Honor 3C are some of the best affordable smartphone you can buy in Malaysia. And joining the bandwagon is the new Redmi Note from Xiaomi. The China-based company is set to launch the budget-friendly smartphone to our local market. Yes, you will get even more headache thinking of which phone to buy. 🙂
The Redmi Note will be the second model to go on sale in Malaysia, after the debut of Xiaomi Mi 3 months ago. The pricing of Mi 3 has been reduced from RM 889 to RM 769, in anticipation of new models launch. We heard that Redmi 1S is coming too.
Hardware-wise, Redmi Note features a 5.5-inch IPS screen display with 1280 x 720 resolution. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 2GB of RAM and built-in storage size of 8GB. There is a microSD card slot that supports additional storage up to 32GB. Out of the box, the device runs Android 4.2 with MIUI version 5 overlay.
Other features include WLAN 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, support dual-sim and a 3200mAh Lithium-polymer battery. More details on the specs here.
Xiaomi Malaysia hasn’t announce the exact availability and pricing of Redmi Note. To welcome the device, the company is organising a simple contest of guessing the retail price of Redmi Note. It is either RM 509, RM 539 or RM 569. Correct guess will win you F-code for Redmi Note. With F-code (or Friends code), you will be much more ahead than users without the codes in securing the smartphone during the sale at Xiaomi’s online store.
P.S. : We picked RM 569 as the expected launch price as the model to be launched here is an Enhanced version, not the Standard version. Hope we are right. 🙂
[UPDATED 25/6/14] : The pricing and availability of Redmi Note are as follows : RM 509, start selling online on July 22, 12 p.m. sharp.
