LOK-IT is authenticated from the on-board PIN-pad, after you inserted it to your computer. LOK-IT will remain invisible to your computer, until the correct PIN is entered. Second, all stored data is encrypted using military grade, FIPS approved, AES 256 Bit hardware encryption. Third, the encryption key is not stored in the memory, it is stored in LOK-IT security controller.
And, fourth, LOK-IT’s flash memory chip and other vital internal components are coated with an epoxy resin which defeats forced access to all stored data and the encryption key. Brute force PIN hacking is blocked by a maximum of ten logins attempts after which the drive has to be reformatted.
