Microsoft Malaysia has teased the arrival of the second-generation Surface tablet to our market on its Facebook page yesterday. The successor to the Surface RT tablet, otherwise known as Surface 2, is expected to hit Malaysia on March 14th. That will be another two weeks from now.
As for the specs, the new Surface 2 tablet sports a 10.6-inch full HD screen display and is powered by a 1.7GHz NVIDIA Tegra 4 (T40) quad core processor. It is available in two storage options – 32GB or 64 GB. The memory size stands at 2GB.
Other features include 5MP rear camera, 3.5MP front-facing camera, full size USB 3.0 port, micro HDMI, micro SD card reader, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n). Surface 2 runs Windows RT 8.1 with up to 10 hours worth of battery life.
Thus far, no detail on the pricing has been revealed. Maybe you want to use the US pricing as reference. In the US, the 32GB model costs $449. Add another $100 for 64GB variant.
P.S. : We expect the Windows 8.1-based Surface Pro 2 tablet to land here in one to two months time after the arrival of Surface 2. Last time its predecessor the Surface Pro was launched here one and half month after the Surface RT.
