ASUS has launched the all-new Transformer P1801 AiO (all-in-one) PC, the world’s first All-in-One PC that comprises of two different devices with dual operating systems – Windows 8 and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Sounds interesting, right? Read on for more details.
From the above image, we can’t really tell the difference between ASUS Transformer AiO and other AiO PCs. Surprise, the large 18.4-inch full HD touchscreen on the desktop is detachable! When you take out the touchscreen from its base station (known as PC Station), the touchscreen now works as a standalone tablet with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor. It has 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and up to 5 hours of battery life.
There is actually a dedicated Mode Key button that enables you to switch seamlessly between Windows 8 and Android. At 18.4-inch, the tablet is easily the largest Android tablet available on the market. Can you run Windows 8 on the tablet UI? Of course, you can do it in the remote desktop mode, in which the tablet serves as a remote desktop wirelessly connected to the PC Station.
In desktop mode, meaning when the tablet is attached to the PC Station, the ASUS Transformer AiO becomes a Windows 8 machine, running on 3rd generation Intel Core desktop processor (available in Core i3, i5 or i7), with a 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT730M GPU, 4GB up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and 1TB up to 2TB SATA HDD storage. The size of RAM and HDD vary between models.
Other features include 802.11a/b/g/n dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, four USB 3.0 ports, USB 2.0 port, 3-in-1 card reader and slot-in Supermulti DVD RW optical drive.
