Most users don’t bother to check their bookmarks to see whether their bookmarked pages still existed or not and also to check for duplicate links. After all, who has time to do all that? Even if you have the time, you probably wouldn’t waste time on that, right?
AM-Deadlink is a briliant tool that I’ve mentioned several months ago. It really did a great job to help you detect and remove duplicate and dead links from major web browsers’ bookmarks like Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera. CheckPlaces is a similar tool as AM-Deadlink, the difference is that CheckPlaces only works on Firefox.
CheckPlaces is a firefox plugin that allows you to check the validity of your Firefox’s bookmarks, to check whether the links are still exist or not. It also scans for duplicate bookmarks and empty folders. This tool is extremely easy to use. After installation, CheckPlaces will adds itself under the bookmark menu.
On the main window of CheckPlaces, you can choose the operations (check for duplicate, empty folders and check page exist) that you want to run. You can also choose to exclude or include any bookmarks that you want CheckPlaces to scan.
CheckPlaces is currently an experimental extension, which means that you need first to login your account at addons.mozilla.org in order to download the add-on. If you don’t already have one, feel free to sign up an account. It’s free! 🙂
