Facebook has released a newer and faster version of its official app for Android platform. Facebook for Android now carries version 2.0 is now twice as fast when looking at photos and loading your Timeline and news feed as well as quicker to launch.
Similar to its iOS app (which was released on August), the Android version of Facebook is written in native code instead of HTML 5 code with only one goal in mind, that is to bring performance improvement to the app. In this update, Facebook has rebuilt news feed, notifications and Timeline for speed.
You don’t see a new look or notable features in the Facebook app, instead you get to see speed improvement while using Facebook on the go. Take for example, you can view any photo almost instantly by simply tapping on the photo, and scroll through photo albums without leaving news feed.
Moreover, there is an in-app banner notification aka New Stories bar, that will alert you in real-time when new stories come in. Your news feed will not auto refresh, instead you need to tap once to see the latest stories from your Facebook friends.
