A check on Google Play Store (Malaysia) shows WeChat in the number 1 spot under the free app category.
Recently, WeChat Malaysia has announced some exciting localization plans including support for local collaborations and will be actively rolling out activities related to Malaysians. Previously, the company has introduced its local ambassadors – the award winning actor and actress, Lisa Surihani and Shaheizy Sam.
Other than sending text messages for free, WeChat also features “Hold-to-Talk” voice messaging, video call, photo/video sharing and group chats. The app make it easy to find new friends, thanks to its unique location-based social plug-ins – Shake, Look Around and Drift Bottle.
The app has Bahasa Malaysia (Bahasa Melayu) as one of its supported languages and supports all major mobile platforms including iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Symbian and Blackberry. There is web version of WeChat for PC browser. Hop over to WeChat.com to download the app.
