The sixth generation smartphone from Apple – the iPhone 5 is set to launch in Malaysia this Friday, December 14. Thus far, all our three major telcos – Maxis, Celcom and Digi have already started taking pre-orders for the smartphone bundled with their postpaid plans. If you wish to purchase contract-free iPhone 5, you can head over to Apple Online Store when the time comes (yes, just not the time yet).
Over Maxis, they will start selling the iPhone 5 at CapSquare, PIKOM ICT Mall in Kuala Lumpur at 12.01 a.m. on the 14 December 2012. The launch event will begin 3 hours ahead of time. So that would means customers can start line up for the iPhone from 9 p.m. onwards.
Below is the invitation to the launch event for Maxis One Club members. You should get the similar email if you’ve signed up the Registration of Interest page earlier. However, if you are not an existing Maxis user, you will be asked to port-into Maxis before you can order your unit of iPhone 5.
Upon receiving the email, you can order a maximum of 2 iPhones bundled with newly enhanced iValue plans with the condition that you are a principal account holder. Then, get ready to collect them at CapSquare on your preferred time slot. Maxis provides a total of 10 slots over the span of 3 days, from December 14 to December 16.
We didn’t get the invitation because we are not using Maxis network. 🙂 However, we will be there at Capsquare to cover Maxis iPhone 5’s launch event by inviting ourselves to the event. Hopefully we will have no problem to sneak into the event and importantly we don’t get lost while looking for PIKOM ICT Mall. Yes, it’s our first time going there. 🙂
For people living outside the Klang Valley, you can the nearest Maxis Centers and MEPs to get your hands on the iPhone 5. It will be selling from December 14 onwards.
