The demand for Apple’s flagship smartphone, iPhone 5 has been very high since the smartphone made its debut some two months ago. The Cupertino-based company took only three days to sell more than 5 million units of the smartphone and has became the fastest-selling smartphone of all time.
However, sales have fallen short a while go due to supply shortages. Foxconn claimed that iPhone 5 demand is too high to handle. Moreover, it’s not easy to assemble the iPhone 5. In fact, the iPhone 5 is the most difficult device that Foxconn has ever assembled. Now, the availability of the iPhone 5 has improved significantly as Apple is catching up to prepare for the holiday season.
If that is the case, it’s easy to understand why the iPhone 5 is taking quite some time to arrive Malaysia. Previously we thought that the smartphone would be here on the second week of November. However, thing didn’t go as planned.
Now we’ve learnt a new date for iPhone 5 release in Malaysia. According to MalaysianWireless, Apple’s flagship smartphone is expected to hit Malaysia this December 14 (Friday). As always, our three telco big boys – Maxis, Celcom and Digi are expected to offer their iPhone 5 bundles.
At the time being, we have no information on iPhone 5 plans as well as the pricing. But if the pricing of iPhone 5 follows the prices of iPhone 4S last year, then the suggested retail price for the three models of iPhone 5 will be as below.
- iPhone 5 16GB – RM2190
- iPhone 5 32GB – RM2590
- iPhone 5 64GB – RM2890
Stay tuned for more updates on everything’s iPhone 5 in Malaysia.
