Apple’s sixth generation smartphone – the iPhone 5 was officially launched in Malaysia at midnight December 14. Over the DiGi camp, initially the iPhone 5’s midnight collection was scheduled to take place only at DiGi 360°@ SohoKL Solaris Mont Kiara, has expanded to 6 locations nationwide including Penang, Ipoh, Melaka, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.
Pre-order customers who have chosen to self-collect iPhone 5 at the designated venues started taking queue numbers from 9.30 p.m. onwards, hoping to be among the first to get their hands on the new iPhone.
This was the crowd waiting for queue numbers in front of DiGi store at SohoKL several hours before the midnight launch.
Let’s see who are those first in line for the iPhone 5 at each of the six collection venues.
DiGi 360°@ SohoKL Solaris Mont Kiara – Kuala Lumpur
Happy buyers Poh Boon Hou, 23, and C.O. Tham, 54, show off their new phones. Apple fan, Poh started queue up from 7 p.m. while Mr Tham is the first walk-in customer at SohoKL, bought the phone as a (Christmas?) gift for his son-in-law.
DiGi Center Pulau Tikus – Penang
Nicholas Lee, 30, queued up 6 hours ahead of the launch is an avid iPhone fan and has been using the Apple smartphone since the first generation. :-0
DiGi Center De Gardens – Ipoh
Kong Sheue Lai, 19, got her hands on the iPhone 5 as the smartphone is a trendy phone at the moment. Started queue from 9 p.m.
DiGi Center Plaza Merdeka – Malacca
Leong Mun Choon, 21, currently studying at KDU collage, has waited since 7.30 p.m. last night to be the first DiGi customer in Malacca with an iPhone 5.
DiGi Center Api Api – Kota Kinabalu
Nothing make Tan Wan Loo a happy person than getting the iPhone 5. This 35 years old loyal Apple smartphone user since iPhone 3 started queue up from 10 p.m.
DiGi Store Express The Spring – Kuching
Alicia Kho Yin Yin, a 22 years old undergraduate has waited in line since 7 p.m. 5 hours later, she is a happy iPhone 5 owner. 🙂
