[Confirmed] Apple iPhone 4S has 512MB of RAM, Gets Improved Battery1 min read

The people over iFixit has confirmed that iPhone 4S is packed with only 512MB of RAM, like the iPhone 4, as they look inside the new Apple smartphone in their latest teardown of the latest Apple iPhone.

Here’s a closer look at the 1GHz dual core A5 chip with 512 MB of DDR2 RAM.

How do we know it’s 512 MB? Check out the marking, specifically E4E4, denoting two 2 Gb LPDDR2 die—for a total of 4 Gb—or 512 MB.

On top of that, iFixit noticed a slightly improvement on the battery. The new battery has an extra .05 WHrs as compared with the one in the iPhone 4. The iPhone 4S offers a continuous talk time of 8 hrs on 3G, up to 14 hrs on 2G (GSM network) and up to 200 hrs on standby.

Comparing to its predecessor, the iPhone 4S has an extra hour of talk time on the 3G network, the unchanged amount of talk time on the 2G network, but 100 hours less standby time.

According to iFixit, although the iPhone 4S battery may resemble the power pack in iPhone 4, but it’s not likely that you can fit the new battery into iPhone 4 as it appears that the connectors are of different shapes.
