Apple has updated its smartphone page and put together the specifications for the new iPhone 5 side by side against older iPhone models – iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 in a comparison chart.
Despite the lack of the “WOW” factor, the iPhone 5 does brings a handful of new features and improvements to smartphone users. It has been completely designed and is made entirely of glass and aluminium. As compare to iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 in term of physical design, the new iPhone 5 is now taller but weighs less and is thinner than its predecessors. In fact, iPhone 5 is the lightest and thinnest iPhone ever!
iPhone 5 sports a larger 4-inch Retina display with 1136-by-640 resolution. As for the processor, the Apple-designed processor has been upgraded from A4 chip (in iPhone 4) to A5 chip (in iPhone 4S) and now the new A6 chip for iPhone 5. The new processor boosts graphics performance by 2x and has twice the CPU power than A5 chip.
The camera in iPhone 5 is thinner and has new features and improvement in video recording. The front-facing Facetime camera get a boost too. Other changes include the introduction of the new nano-SIM, new 8-pin digital connector called Lightning and features new Apple EarPods as replacement to the usual Apple earphones. Last but not least, iPhone 5 supports ultrafast wireless networks including LTE and DC-HSDPA.
