Apple has officially unveiled the new iPhone 4S smartphone in the “Let’s Talk iPhone” event, which took place at the California-based company’s own Town Hall Auditorium.
On the outside the iPhone 4S looks no different from its predecessor, but there are several notable hardware improvements on the phone. The new iPhone 4S sports a dual-core A5 chip which boosts graphics performance by up to 7x and an 8-megapixel camera with a backside illuminated CMOS sensor for better low-light performance and capable of recording 1080p video.
Besides, the iPhone 4S also has a new antenna design with a dual-mode GSM and CMDA radio, which enables users to switch between two antennas to improve call quality and download data more quickly.
On top of that, the iPhone 4S comes with new iOS 5 and also a voice recognition and commands application, called Siri. The apps takes commands through the mic button on the keyboard. Tap on the mic and start talking to enter text, check the weather, get directions or perform web searches.
