For those who have recently purchased Apple iPad (especially Malaysian users), might not want to read this. Because there are rumors going around, which claimed that the second generation of iPad will start shipping as early as the end of February 2011!
According to the sources from Taiwan-based component makers, Foxconn Electronics’ (Hon Hai Precision Industry’s) plants in Shenzhen, China have recently been notified they will ship Apple’s iPad 2 within the next 100 days or as early as the end of February next year, with initial shipments to reach 400,000-600,000 units.
The sources also pointed out that Apple originally planned to start mass production in January, but because of the ongoing device’s firmware testing, Apple has been postponing the schedule.
Somehow, with Apple expected to launch the iPad 2 in April (unconfirmed), there will be lesser chance for the shipment of the second generation iPad to consumers in February 2011, as by doing so, Apple would be stockpiling units ahead of the global launch in April. Thanks, Engadget!
