Samsung has announced the stripped-down version of its flagship Galaxy S III smartphone. The latest addition to its Galaxy family sports a smaller screen display (=reduced form factor), slower processor, downgraded camera, less battery life, among others, as compared to Galaxy S III.
The new smartphone is known as Samsung Galaxy S III Mini.
Samsung Galaxy S III Mini sports a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen display with 480×800 resolution. It is powered by 1GHz dual core processor with 1GB of RAM and choices of 8GB or 16GB internal storage, which is expandable via microSD card.
Move on to the camera department. The Galaxy S III Mini features a 5MP rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash, as opposed to Galaxy S III’s 8MP camera. On the front is the a VGA camera.
Despite the downgraded features, at least the Galaxy S III Mini runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box and it does boost many of the features found in the original Galaxy S III.
Some of the features include Smart Stay (the screen is fully lit as long as you are looking at it), Direct Call (auto-call your friend who’s texted you when you put the phone to your ear), Smart Alert (notifies you of missed calls and unread messages every time you pick up the phone), S Beam (tapping phone together using NFC to share music files) and Buddy Photo Share.
Thus far, there is still no information regarding availability and pricing of the middle-end smartphone. One thing for sure, it’s cheaper than Galaxy S III.
