ASUS has started rolling out the Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to its smartphone/tablet combo device – the Padfone 2. The device was first unveiled back in October with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out-of-the-box. This good news definitely comes at the right time as ASUS Malaysia is scheduled to launch the Padfone 2 this Thursday, December 13 in Malaysia. 🙂
The people over FoneArena first spotted the Jelly Bean update on their Taiwanese PadFone 2. So this confirmed that the update has started rolling out to the device, beginning in Taiwan, and as an OTA update.
Here’s some screenshots showing the Padfone 2 has indeed upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The build number is JRO03L 10.4.5.33-0.
We expect the global roll out of the Jelly Bean update to hit the Padfone 2 in the coming weeks. Hopefully the device is Jelly Bean-ready before we hit the new year. 🙂
