ASUS Malaysia and Google has launched the much-anticipated Nexus 7 tablet in Malaysia in a media event yesterday. The event at which we’ve attended, was held at Romanza Le Restaurant, Kuala Lumpur at 3 pm. George Su, the System Country Manager of ASUS was also present.
With the official launch, Malaysia is now the first country in the South East Asia region to get the 7-inch Android 4.1 Jelly Bean tablet. Those who are interested can get the tablet from authorised ASUS resellers throughout the country.
For local market, ASUS Malaysia has decided to sell only the 16GB model (no 8GB, guys!) and at a higher price tag of RM 999 (approx. USD$327). In the US, the same model is selling for much less at attractive price tag of USD$249 (approx. RM760). That’s a price markup of over RM200!
Other than that, at the time being, the Google Play Books and Movies are still not accessible by Malaysians. The only source of contents is from Google Play Store. It houses more than 600,000 apps and games.
P.S. : We feel that many people will not be discouraged by the price tag. It’s still consider as a value-for-money tablet if you take into account all the powerful specs of Nexus 7.
Extra : Here’s the second ad “Curious” on Google Nexus 7. It was released last month. In case you haven’t watch it, check out the ad below.
